School lunch policy
Kerri Wike

Dear Parents and Students,

A reminder we are not allowed to accept any food deliveries for students  (DoorDash, Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc.).  State statute, ISS BOE policy, and School policy prohibit the sale of competing food items during times that the cafeteria is in operation and our school policy is to not accept them during school hours.

Also, today we are reaching out to inform you about a recent update regarding the option to charge food to student accounts in the Lake Norman High School Cafeteria. We understand that there may be occasions when students forget to bring lunch or face unexpected situations, and providing the option to charge meals ensures that no student goes hungry.

While we are happy to offer this convenience, we kindly request your cooperation in managing and settling any charged food bills as soon as possible. Timely payments are crucial to maintain the smooth operation of our school nutrition services and help us continue providing quality meals for our students.

Please take a moment to review your child's account and ensure that any outstanding food charges are promptly settled. You can review your charges and make online payments by creating an account through The K12 Payment Center.  Additionally, a check made out to Lake Norman High School Cafeteria, or cash may also be presented in person during lunch.    We appreciate your support and attention to this matter.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's food account or payment process, please feel free to contact our Cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Barbara Murdock, at 704-799-1845.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Mr. Shapcott

For over 50 years FBLA has partnered with the March of Dimes to raise money and awareness for moms and babies.  This year the FBLA members at Lake Norman High challenged its school to raise $700 in 2 weeks. Club Officers created a short informational video about the history and purpose of the March of Dimes that kicked off their fundraising campaign on April 17th. The response was overwhelming and within the first 3 days of the fundraising campaign, the $700 goal had been met and surpassed.  The goal was then raised to $1000, then $1500, and then $2000.  For the two-week campaign, the students and staff ended up raising over $4,000 for the March of Dimes.   On May 3, FBLA members and advisors, and administration from LNHS met with Mrs. Caroline Carney, Manager for March of Dimes Donor Development to present checks for their donation.

On Monday, February 27th, Deputy Canine Laker started his first day of work at Lake Norman High School.  Deputy Josh Kanupp is Laker's handler.  The statement below is from the Iredell County Sheriff's Department:

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is excited to welcome two new canine units that will be assigned to Lake Norman High School and North Iredell High School.

The yellow Labrador is Canine “Laker”, and he will join School Resource Officer Deputy Josh Kanupp at Lake Norman High School.

The black Labrador is Canine “Raider”, and she will be joining School Resource Officer Deputy Travis Lewis at North Iredell High School.

Both Laker and Raider, along with their handlers, are ready to enter into their roles at their designated schools as they have recently completed a comprehensive training program that included advanced obedience, building searches, tracking, article detection, and detection of seven drugs; Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Heroin, Cocaine, PCP, LSD, and Ecstasy. Both canines will also be trained to detect Fentanyl in the near future.

Sheriff Campbell added, “I want to thank Dr. Jeff James and the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board for working with us to make these two additional dogs possible. Laker and Raider will join with canines Tito and Rip to work in our school system. By being able to have these dogs travel to our various elementary, middle, and high schools, we can continue to foster a safe environment within our schools”.
